Amorgos island




 Amorgos (Greek: Αμοργός) is the easternmost island of the Greek Cyclades island group, and the nearest island to the Neighboring Dodecanese island group.

Amorgos is one of the most beautiful Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.

This island amazes visitors with the natural beauty, the traditional architecture and the fabulous beaches 
 
Did you know that the 1988 movie "The Big Blue" with Jean Reno was shot on the island of Amorgos, at the southeastern edge of the Cyclades?

The island boasts scenic bays, underwater caves ideal for diving and golden beaches, must or-which are secluded (only a few are Organized).

The spectacular monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa is situated on the cliff side, north east of Chora.
It was built early in the second millennium, in order to protect a religious icon, dating from the year 812,  
from intruders.

 Amorgos was scene to Luc Besson's cult movie "The Big Blue" - at Liveros Bay. 
The Big Blue  is a 1988 English-language film made ​​by French director Luc Besson. 
 The film stars Jean-Marc Barr, Rosanna Arquette

You can arrive by boat from Piraeus via Naxos and Amorgos to the Little Cyclades (hours).
 In July and August runs a fast catamaran six days a week, except Wednesday, from Piraeus to Amorgos (€ 53, five hours)
you also can reach Amorgos  from other islands like Paros,Naxos,Sandorini...
